GROOMING FAQs
Salon: We’re happy to take walk-ins when we have availability, but would prefer that you pre-book an appointment to avoid disappointment. Making an appointment ahead of time also ensures that you (and, more importantly, your pet) aren’t kept waiting any longer than necessary.
Vans: Due to the high demand you must book an appointment in advance. If you have an emergency give us a call and our team will try their best to fit you in as soon as possible.
Call us at 04 – 3400507 or email us at info@shampooch.ae to book your appointment.
We aim to maintain a safe environment for all our furry friends, so we do require all dogs to have their vaccinations up to date. You should wait at least 7 days after shots before having your dog groomed. The waiting period helps to ensure your pet has not suffered any side effects and isn’t sore at the injection site, which can cause irritability or lethargy.
All pets must be in good health prior to receiving any Shampooch services. Our staff should be notified by the owners of any on-going long/short term issues such as sensitive skin, previous operations, hip dysplasia, blindness, old age, or particular ‘no-go’ areas for your dog at the beginning of every appointment. The more info we have on your dog’s well-being, the better quality of service we can deliver.
The amount of time it takes for grooming varies by breed and type of service, but you can usually plan on it taking from 45 mins – 1.5 hours. Minor walk-in services in the salon, such as nail clipping or ear cleaning, take about 5-15 minutes.
Call and book your dog in as soon as possible and let us know. Only when our groomers can see the matting can we discuss the best way to proceed for your dog – de-matting or shaving. Our groomers are always happy to chat about the different causes of matting and how to avoid this happening again.
Note that de-matting can take a lot of time and effort and we may charge more if your dog requires significant de-matting.
Nails and ears should be checked at least once a month by a groomer. Time between haircuts and full grooms can vary from 2-8 weeks, depending on your personal preferences and the breed of your dog. Give us a call, our groomers will be happy to advise you on the correct grooming schedule for your dog.
No. Our groomers fluff dry all the dogs using high velocity dryers.
Whilst your dogs are not physically being groomed, the safest place for them to be (and where they will be the most comfortable) will be in a spacious and secure kennel. With our booking system, we can usually minimize kennel time and there is always someone on hand to watch your pets. When we have clients with 2 or more dogs and we are happy to keep them together as much is physically possible.
Our prices are based on many factors like breed, condition of coat, and time taken to complete our service. While we do our best to provide an approximate price range over the phone, you’ll get the most accurate quote when we assess your pet in person. Please feel free to pop over to our shop anytime with your pet for a free quote.
We also offer different types of grooming packages for both mobile and salon – please give us a call and we can give you the details.
No, we do not currently groom cats or other animals in our mobile vans or in our salon. Even though we have done a goat once!
BOARDING AND DAYCARE FAQs
We require an up to date veterinarian certificate (stamped/signed vaccine booklet) indicating proof of vaccination for Rabies, DHPP/DHLPP, and Bordetella (kennel cough). We recommend the Bordetella vaccination be administered every 6 months. If the Bordetella vaccine has never been given, or if it has expired, there is required 7 day waiting period after the administration before your dog can allowed access.
For all other vaccinations, a 24 hour waiting period is required after the first administration of a vaccination or if it has expired. Have your vet email us a copy at daycare@shampooch.ae beforehand so we can update all our records before you arrive.
All our furry friends must be treated with an effective form of tick control. We use Frontline and can apply this for you on your dog at an extra charge.
All furry guests must be 4 months or older.
To join daycare, all guests must be spayed or neutered, unless under 7 months of age.
Our 7-day policy ensures that guests with little or no immunity have not been exposed accidentally and infected with an illness while visiting their veterinarian to get vaccinated. While it may seem a little strict, we prefer to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our furry friends.
Guests who attend daycare will require a brief temperament evaluation — think of it as a simple “meet and greet.” This ensures the safety of all our guests. Temperament evaluations must be scheduled in advance, just give us a call to let us know you're coming in. We want to make sure we have adequate time to get to know your pooch.
There is a one-time fee for this service of Dhs.100, which can be used towards future daycare bookings.
We just need a little paperwork — don’t worry, it doesn’t take long. Give us a call and we can email it to you or you could pick them up at the Shampooch front desk. We ask that you provide current vaccination records and completed forms prior to your dog’s stay. We cannot allow your dog to stay with us without these.
For dogs who are staying in boarding for the first time we recommend you do a trial run for a few days first (in either boarding or daycare) to help them adjust before a long stay.
You can make a reservation by calling us. We will send you our booking and credit card authorization forms and hold your reservation for 24 hours.
During our peak season, (Summer, Christmas, School holidays, Public holidays) we require a 50% deposit for the total cost of your stay at the time of booking, which is non-refundable.
All known costs of your stay must be paid in full in advance upon your check-in. Any extra costs incurred during your pet’s stay with us are payable upon collection.
While we do accept daycare drop-ins, we strongly encourage you to call ahead. If your dog will be joining us regularly for daycare, we recommend making a standing reservation on your typical play dates. This way, your pooch will always have a spot at Shampooch.
Our furry guests can be checked in anytime during business hours (7am – 7pm). Checkout time is noon, seven days a week. We offer a late check out option for an extra charge.
Of course and we encourage it, as many dogs are sensitive to sudden dietary changes, we find that it’s best to provide their regular food. If you would rather us provide the food we can do that at no extra charge – we serve our dogs Royal Canin.
We provide the comforts of home including premium dog bedding and bowls. That said, you’re welcome to bring a few small items, like your pup’s favorite blanket, toy or basket to make them feel more at home.
Yes, we can. We can administer any non-injectable medication. Just make sure medication is clearly labeled, dosage instructions are included, along with your vets details.
We are happy to do basic training with your dog during their stay at Shampooch. Give us a call and we can discuss the many options we have available to combine boarding / daycare and training together.
Yes, we always have trained Shampooch staff on site 24/7 (who actually sleep in the daycare area with the dogs not in their rooms). Our facility also features security cameras and alarms, water sprinklers and smoke detection systems that alert police and fire departments in the event of an emergency.
We are also happy to provide you with regular email updates and pictures to let you know how your dog is enjoying their staycation at Shampooch.
Yes! We love visitors. You can visit us any time from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. No appointment is necessary but please call us ahead of time in case we are busy!
Most dogs when they return from boarding might be tired and want to sleep a lot, sometimes for days. This shouldn’t worry you as it usually is due to being happy to be back home and all the excitement during boarding. If you have any concerns give us or your vet a call and we will be happy to discuss it with you further.
